This was our second time staying at this Promontory cabin, both times were in the early fall, which is considered to be "off season" for this type of Park City neighborhood. We don't mind feeling like we're staying in a ghost town, but don't expect to see a whole lot of people if you come this time of year! We saw lots of wildlife during our stay including deer, owls, elk, and rabbits.
The cabin itself is impressive and well decorated, with comfy beds and all the kitchen things that you might need. I will mention that the oven is finicky, so if you plan on doing some tricky baking up there, I would recommend that you bring your own oven thermometer, as we discovered that the oven runs cold. (Two years ago when we came, we had a hard time lighting it at all! But it wasn't a deal breaker for us.) There is adequate comfortable seating for a large group in the kitchen/dining area.
In the photos, there is a downstairs bedroom with a red bunk bed. The bunk bed is broken apart, so it's actually one twin and one full. This was helpful to us, as we bring small children with us and they are too young to sleep in a top bunk. The master closet is huge and can very easily fit a sleeping baby in a pack-and-play, not to mention a twin mattress in addition, if you need little ones very close by. This trip, the air was soooooo incredibly dry! There is lotion stashed around the cabin, but I would bring your own thicker lotion if you have dry or cracked skin.
We were able to heat the hot tub just fine. It is tricky to access the amenities at Promontory if you haven't taken care to set that up in advance. (Look for details in an email from TurnkKey, the property manager.) It's not a huge deal to use the pool and adventure trail during the off season when literally no other guests are present, but I could see it being more of a problem during peak season. Golfing is great at Promontory, but you are required to use a caddie (which my husband secretly liked because it resulted in his best score.) I got a very therapeutic massage at the Promontory Spa, in addition to an Oxygen Facial from a very capable spa manager. The spa prices are very competitive, which was a bonus! I would recommend making your appointment in advance since there is only one aesthetics room and four massage rooms.
I can't imagine anyone not loving this property and cabin! It's not what I would call a "secluded cabin in the woods", but with Park City nearby, it is a great getaway place!
