Anodyne House
We like the location & the lovely gardens. The owners were very nice. The pictures of the house need to be updated - they do not accurately represent the house's condition. The exterior paint was peeling very badly & the balcony off the bedroom had no rails and was closed off (very disappointing). The owners also stopped by unannounced (3 times)and did chores in the yard. We would have preferred privacy for the week.

Lovely gardens
Fabulous garden and great bathrooms. The house overall is very old fashioned and cluttered with family pictures and trinkets . Two of the so called double beds are very small. And no bedding was provided for the downstairs sofa bed. This place realistically sleeps 6 comfortably. A plug in kettle would make a big difference in the kitchen. Whilst the owner was very friendly he did pop in frequently unannounced leaving us feeling a bit watched. The place could do with a note containing info about the area such as shops and restaurants etc. And the roof terrace promised in the property description was out of action. The place was reasonably clean though we had to empty the dishwasher on arrival and dry and put our own linen on two of the beds as that had not been done. Turnkey refunded us our cleaning fee.

Beautiful vacation home on Maine coast
Our extended family of 6 adults rented this beautiful vacation house in South Bristol, Maine. It was a good size for our group. Everything was clean and well maintained. The management was quite responsive and provided whatever support we needed during our stay. The space itself is quite nice, and features a screened in gazebo as well as a beautiful garden . Plenty of space for socializing both indoors and outdoors. South Bristol is a charming area of Maine that is accessible to many maritime attractions. It is a bit off the beaten track so you don't get a large number of tourists as you do in other areas of the coast. We highly recommend this house for its beauty and spaciousness. We would definitely rent this house again if we vacation in this area.

Wonderful spot to relax
We spent 4 nights here, with the general intention of mostly cooking meals and reading on the porch. This spot was perfect for both, with a well-equipped kitchen and multiple spots to enjoy a sit outside.

Everything in the house worked and was clean, and there was nothing we were caught without or had to unexpectedly run out for. The house is in a lovely, sleepy area that's great for a walk and has a small grocery/cafe and the fisherman's co-op where one can get fresh lobsters live or cooked as you wait.

Damariscotta is the nearest town, about 20 minutes away, and has a supermarket, food co-op and farm stand, as well as several restaurants and shops.

Uniquely, this house has gorgeous gardens, which are well maintained and stocked with interesting plants. During our late-June visit, lots of things were in full blossom, and the yard itself was a great place to walk.

Charming, quiet, and relaxing getaway.
Our family of 8 recently visited Maine and wanted a quiet, low key week away. The property is very well maintained and charming. A ton of character!! Our family felt comfortable and would recommend this property for families couples seeking a small town experience. The home was historic in nature, however provided a perfect space. There are hens on the property which are very quiet and peaceful to watch.the gardens are immaculate and well maintained. The owner Dave was extremely friendly and welcoming. A few considerations that may impact your stay. Plan ahead for meals, you are not close to a full service grocery store. This was not an issue for our family as we planned ahead. Also, my family prefers a king or queen bed if possible. The home has full size beds. Again, not an issue for our family, just an FYI if this is important to you. I would recommend this property if you are seeking a quiet restful time away.

Lovely home and gardens
We enjoyed staying in this historic home. I would suggest they add a few more coffee mugs as the tea cups are delicate and do not hold as much. We had 5 adults and only 3 mugs. I would also suggest better lighting and a small roll up or blow up mattress for young children who sleepless on floor in parents room. Pack n play too small for 3 year old.
