Slice of heaven tucked away in the Rockies
I stayed at Hemlock Hideaway with a group of friends for a ski weekend in January. The house made for the perfect weekend getaway from Denver. It's remote enough to feel like you've got the mountain to yourself, but still only a 20-minute drive from Winter Park. The house had ample space for our group of 12, and the kitchen and living areas had everything we could ask for. We especially loved playing games around the large dining table and relaxing in the ho tub after a day on the slopes. We hope to return again in the fall to see the fall colors as the house is located right in the middle of a small aspen grove with expansive views over the Rocky Mountains and Winter Park.

Perfect house for our ski vacation
I've been fortunate enough to stay in some fantastic rental properties over the last few years, but Hemlock Hideaway blew them all away and served as the perfect location to house our group of 14 over New Years break. The property is ideally located 10 or so minutes from the main drag in Winter Park / Fraser, and another 5 minutes to the Winter Park ski resort. We were able to get to and from town with ease, and were well suited by our proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and ski rental facilities. That said, due to the property's hillside location, it was secluded enough that we felt completely undisturbed and tucked away in our own little corner of the rockies. The view from the back deck is truly breathtaking. It looks over a vast expanse of wilderness with very few (if any) manmade structures in sight, and was the perfect location to unwind with a drink after skiing. On the whole, pictures do not do justice to the property's natural surroundings. The house is tastefully decorated and in fantastic condition, with all the necessary creature comforts (DirecTV, wifi, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc.) Our group made good use of the hot tub and ping pong / game room as well. My wife and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom which had ample storage and closet space, and all of the bathrooms were well stocked with linens and bath products. It genuinely felt like a hotel experience. There's also a room in the basement which had two sets of queen sized bunk beds (4 beds in total). It's ideally suited as a room for kids and teens (it has a couch and TV/cable to keep everyone happy). That said, we had 4 adults in that room and they were perfectly content with the setup. Our group mostly ate in town or brought in food, so we didn't do an ample amount of cooking, but the kitchen was well appointed and there was an additional fridge in the garage in the event we needed extra space (we did not). We look forward to returning in the future and enjoying this little slice of mountainside beauty once again.
