Why North Lake Tahoe guests love staying with TurnKey...

"My partner and I and two grandchildren stayed here two nights. The cabin is thoughtfully equipped and well located 2 blocks off the main highway and a public beach in a quiet neighborhood with no through traffic. We shopped at the large grocery store about ten minutes drive away. The bedroom and loft are minimally sized but have good closets. Kitchen and bathroom are well laid out, well equipped, and esthetically attractive. Dining space is limited to 2 at the counter stools, eating with chairs around the coffee table, or creating space to set up a table and chairs for 4 which we didn’t do - Might be good to set up on the porch outdoors where there is plenty of room. Property management was communicative and professional. Minor suggestions: add lighting to the living room as the two table lamps are inadequate, add some nightlights in the hall and bathroom. "..."

Sugar Pine Haus with Hot Tub
"Enjoyed newly remodeled unit just east of Carnelian Bay. Outstanding great room and BIG kitchen. Beautiful downstairs master suite with lots of storage and deck. Upstairs not yet remodeled but still very very nice and large bedrooms - another master suite and two bedrooms with shared bath. Quiet mixed rental and residential neighborhood, minutes from lake, dining, convenience store and miniature golf. We enjoyed walks here when we weren’t at beach! Lots of parking including spacious 2-car garage. Great TV/streaming options in every bedroom and delightful gas fireplace for summer ambiance. No A/C but never needed it even though last week of July. Lots of shaded windows and fans. Beware of pollen factor though for allergy sufferers. Easy-breezy check in and out. We needed nothing but more vacation time for a longer stay!"..."

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in North Lake Tahoe

With 72 miles of shoreline to explore—as well as dozens of ski resorts and charming small towns to discover—there’s a wide array of alpine adventures to enjoy at famed Lake Tahoe. As the second largest alpine lake in world, Lake Tahoe offers a plethora of activities, including skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and ice skating in the winter, as well as swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, and hiking in warmer months.

North Lake Tahoe has something to offer for everyone. Vacation rentals range from classic log cabins to swanky resort homes. Whether coming to the mountains to ski, fish, or simply relax by the lake, North Lake Tahoe is the perfect getaway!

As you plan your Tahoe travels, follow these tips to make sure you pick the perfect vacation rental in North Lake Tahoe.

  • Where to stay near the water in North Lake Tahoe: When visiting the iconic 22-mile long “Jewel of the Sierra” there’s certainly no shortage of waterside locations from which to choose! To enjoy easy access to the lake, following are some top spots to consider: Carnelian Bay, near Waterman’s Landing at Patton Beach; West Shore, near Sugar Pine Point State Park; or Tahoe City, near Common’s Beach and Tahoe City Marina.
  • Where to stay when visiting historic Truckee: The charming old-time western town of Truckee is a real gem, located less than 12 miles from the shores of North Lake Tahoe. The popular Tahoe Donner neighborhood has a large selection of vacation rentals available, a plethora of on-site recreational amenities, as well as quick access to shops and restaurants in downtown Truckee.
  • Where to stay near ski resorts in North Lake Tahoe: The North Shore is home to some of the most iconic ski resorts in the country. When skiing Northstar, consider staying at one of the many rentals in the adjacent Northstar community, or rent a home overlooking the lake in Tahoe Vista/Kings Beach. If heading to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, choose a rental in Olympic Valley or Tahoe City. Truckee offers a great central location from which to visit all three resorts.
  • Where to stay for casino fun in North Lake Tahoe: The Nevada side of North Lake Tahoe is a popular spot for casino entertainment. Once the stomping grounds of Frank Sinatra and the rat pack, Crystal Bay is home to several timeless gaming institutions, including the Tahoe Biltmore and the Tahoe Nugget. In addition to gambling, visitors can also enjoy live music at the Crystal Bay Club. In nearby Incline Village, find gaming and upscale lakefront dining at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe.
  • Where to stay when fishing in North Lake Tahoe: North Lake Tahoe is rich with opportunities for fishing. Plan to stay along the banks of the rushing Truckee River or at Donner Lake. Because Lake Tahoe is too deep to freeze, fishing charters on the hunt for mackinaw, as well as rainbow and brown trout run year-round.
