Why Ventura County guests love staying with TurnKey...

"The pictures of this property don’t do this place justice (so rare for a rental home)! The house is so well thought out, each bathroom is magnificent, the view from upstairs is incredible! The only downside to an otherwise amazing house, is lack of AC, but with the doors open the house instantly cools down. It’s just some corners of the house that get a little hot."..."

Beachfront 4BR/5.5BA w/ Steam Shower, Jacuzzi Tub
"This is my first Turnkey rental, and I was impressed by the service. The location was great, with beach and running/biking trails a block away, beds were comfy and kitchen well equipped. Great stay!"..."

Retro Beach Bungalow in Ventura
"We were 3 families in all that met up for a nice relaxing weekend. Plenty of space. Beautiful home. Rooms are spacious and clean. Kitchen pots and pans could really use some updating. That would be my only real complaint. Outdoor kitchen should also be kept more clean since it has such amazing outdoor amenities, but my husband cleaned everything so we could make use of it all. Other than that, take advantage of every bit of this amazing space! We sure did! Kids played in the pool! We took our ladder golf and frisbees and watched movies and read books and played board games until 2 in the morning! You will feel like you are in your own private oasis! But close enough to go and check out local honey bee farms and other sites! Owner even came out and checked on us!!!"..."

5BR w/ Pool & Big Outdoor Living Area
"My wife and I needed a break from 100+ degree heat and decided at the last minute to go on a "stay-cation" in the LA-area. We were looking to rent a small house close to the ocean in a quiet neighborhood with nearby amenities. We found this lovely house in Oxnard, CA -- just 50 minutes drive from home -- and enjoyed the Labor Day Weekend. The house itself is simple and well maintained: 3 bedrooms. 2 bath, a large, bright and comfortable living room, a small dining room and a kitchen with an electric stove and full-size refrigerator. Plus, the house has a very nice patio deck with a gas grill (we didn't use it) where we sat outside, ate tapas, drank our wine and beer and enjoyed the late afternoon-early evening breeze. We ventured to the beach once each day for a couple of hours of walking for miles and miles or just lounging and reading on the provided beach chairs. The house also had a handy "tar-removal kit" in the closet which made the task of removing tar from our feet quick and easy. Within .3 of a mile, there is a grocery store, and the Shores bar & grill, which is good if you arrive late like we did. It is a quick 2-mile jaunt down Harbor Road to the marinas & restaurants, coffee, and entertainments at Channel Islands Harbor. Highly recommend visiting Sea Fresh Restaurant for local, fresh seafood -- we shared beers, oysters, fried clams, a sole sandwich and a nice garden salad for less than $35. We also drove the 7.5 miles up to Ventura for vegan ice cream, to visit the Buenaventura Mission and eat pastries -- almost next door -- at Cafe du Suro. Recommend Turnkey for 24/7 availability -- and this sweet mid-century modern property for its ideal location."..."

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Ventura County

Located in between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, Ventura County, California has been named the "most desirable" place to live in the U.S. The county, which comprises the Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura area, offers a little bit of everything to its visitors; a thriving craft brewery industry, countless hiking trails, arts and theater at world-class venues like the Majestic Ventura Theater, and beachy getaways along the coast and at Anacapa Island.

Follow these tips to help you pick the perfect Ventura County vacation rental for your travel plans.

  • Where to stay near breweries. There is no shortage of local beer options in Ventura County, but for the most concentrated areas of craft breweries, plan to stay in the city of Ventura, and to visit Camarillo, Moorpark, and Oxnard. In Ventura, beer enthusiasts will find beer concentrated in two areas; Topa Topa Brewing, Leashless Brewing, and Anacapa Brewing all around the Ventura Botanical Gardens, and Madewest Brewing, Concrete Jungle Brewing Project, and Seaward Brewing all near Camino Real Park.
  • Where to stay to go hiking and biking.Hike and bike trails can be found all around the county, both in-land and along the coast, but the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Center’s miles of scenic roads and hiking trails is one of the most popular destinations for outdoorsy folks. Since the center is shared by both Ventura County and the greater Los Angeles area, Thousand Oaks is the most convenient city to stay in for easy access to the trails.
  • Where to stay near the Majestic Ventura Theater.Majestic Ventura Theater, located in the heart of downtown Ventura, is the region's most prominent local music venue and hosts concerts regularly. Plan to stay at a vacation rental in downtown Ventura, grab a bite to eat at one of the dozens of eateries nearby, such as Lure Fish House and Cafe Fiore, and then catch a concert at the theater.
  • Where to stay near Anacapa Island. The most visited island in Channel Islands National Park, Anacapa Island is located off the coast of Port Hueneme in Ventura County. While visitors can camp on the island, there are no lodging services readily available. For a more comfortable stay, plan to find a vacation rental in Port Hueneme, Oxnard, or Ventura and then take a trip on a park concessionaire boats, called Island Packers.
  • How to choose your own Ventura County rental experience. Each town and city in Ventura County has something special to offer. Stay in Ventura if you’re looking to experience California’s beach culture, in Oxnard for more of a “big city” urban experience, or in Camarillo to be near the county’s largest outlet mall. Stay in Thousand Oaks if you want to be just a hop, skip, and jump away from Los Angeles, in Simi Valley for more outdoorsy offerings, or in rural Santa Clara Valley and small town Ojai for an escape from the crowds.
