Why Fort Myers guests love staying with TurnKey...

2BR w/ Views - Near Bowditch Point
"We had 4 adults in our group - the home was spacious enough for us. PROS: We were within walking distance to the beach & Times Square. Home was stocked with plenty of towels; including beach towels and beach towels. Any and all kitchen utensils, dishes, cookware & small appliances were available for use. Lovely seating areas in a screened in porch. CONS: (term to be taken lightly because they’re not super huge concerns) The shower pressure could definitely use some work. The thermostat had no manual, and took many hours to drop from 81* to a comfortable 70*. The outdoor boom box was outdated and we could not figure out how to browse radio stations. Although the Wii was available, we could not sign into our own Netflix due to a parental lock, which wasn’t a huge issue but we did get rained in one day so that would have been nice to use. Overall, lovely home and I would absolutely stay again. Perhaps a visitors folder for future guests would be a nice touch!"..."

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Fort Myers

Fort Myers, Florida has been a beach-getaway destination for centuries, with a top roster of visitors including winter homeowners Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. These elite beachgoers were onto something with their vacation homes; Fort Myers has an average of 266 days of sunshine per year—the most in all of Florida. Today, travelers flock to Fort Myers for everything from golf and boating to fresh seafood and baseball spring training, not to mention a festival celebrating Edison himself.

If you’re planning a trip to the Sunshine State, here are 8 tips to help you rent the perfect vacation rental in Fort Myers:

  1. Where to stay near Fort Myers Beach:On an island with seven miles of shoreline, Fort Myers Beach—known to have the area’s best beaches—is like its own small getaway from mainland Fort Myers. A rental property on Fort Myers Beach offers access to clean, natural shorelines overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Many vacation rental properties on Fort Myers Beach include a heated pool and lanai, giving you multiple options to enjoy that warm Florida sun.
  2. Where to stay for baseball spring training in Fort Myers:Every spring, baseball fans flock to Fort Myers for the chance to see the Red Sox and Minnesota Twins play in spring training games. If you’re a Boston fan, rent a vacation home near San Carlos Lakes to be a quick, 10-minute drive to Red Sox spring training games at JetBlue Stadium. Minnesota fans will also want to stay near San Carlos Park for a vacation property with close proximity to CenturyLink Sports Complex, where the Twins play for spring training.
  3. Where to stay for boating in Fort Myers:The Gulf of Mexico is best explored by boat, which is why Fort Myers has over 20 local marinas offering charter, sunset, and sightseeing boat tours of the area. Whether you’re chartering your own boat or ready to join a sightseeing cruise, you’ll want to rent a vacation property near Downtown Historic District or San Carlos Island, Fort Myers’ two main marina areas with popular outfitters such as Old Florida River Tours, Sea by Sailing, and Backwater Adventure.
  4. Where to stay when attending Fort Myers Beach Shrimp Festival:The Fort Myers Beach Shrimp Festival brings tasty shrimp, thousands of visitors, and a festive parade to the Gulf Shore every March. The event, a community staple since 1959, raises tens of thousands of dollars for charity. Fort Myers Beach’s Town Center neighborhood is the best place to rent a vacation home for the Fort Myers Beach Shrimp Festival; you’ll be walking distance to the main festivities.
  5. Where to stay for the Edison Festival of Light:Celebrating former Fort Myers homeowner Thomas Edison, the Edison Festival of Light is southwest Florida’s largest and longest running festival It brings a 5K run, STEM discovery day, dog parade, and classic car show to the streets of Fort Myers every February. The main attraction is the grand parade, which celebrates Edison with thousands of lights sparkling on the floats, marching bands, and performers. If you’re visiting for Fort Myers’ Edison Festival of light, rent a vacation property close to the grand parade route near the Downtown Historic District.
  6. Where to stay for fishing in Fort Myers:With the Gulf of Mexico in its backyard, Fort Myers is a major destination for fishing in southwest Florida. Fishing options range from shorelines and piers to deep-sea casting and saltwater fly-fishing. If fishing is on your Fort Myers itinerary, rent a vacation home near Fort Myers Beach’s Town Center neighborhood. Another option for proximity to fishing in Fort Myers is Cape Coral, which has a variety of marinas all over town.
  7. Where to stay for a golf weekend in Fort Myers:Regular sunshine and a temperate climate make Fort Myers a must-visit destination for golfers. The area has over a dozen golf clubs, but the best place for golfers to rent a vacation property is North Fort Myers. This neighborhood is close to some of the most highly rated courses, including Heron's Glen Golf & Country Club.
  8. How to choose your own Fort Myers vacation rental experience:With vacation homes offering heated pools and waterfront views—not to mention luxurious condos overlooking the palm-fringed streets of downtown—renting a vacation home in Fort Myers gives you the opportunity for a tropical home away from home in this sunny beach community.
