Why rent a vacation home in Tybee Island, GA

With history, beaches, and wildlife, Tybee Island is a unique coastal destination. Just 20 minutes from historic Savannah, Tybee Island has its own rich history as a military outpost and beach resort town since the 1800s. As a barrier island off the coast of Georgia, Tybee’s waters are warm and pleasant, with gentle waves you can enjoy along the five miles of public beach.

If you are considering a visit to Tybee Island, think about staying in a vacation rental. Popular with families and groups, vacation rentals provide more space and flexibility than is typical at traditional hotels and bed and breakfasts, with family-friend amenities like full kitchens and living rooms. And when you stay at a TurnKey Tybee Island home, you don’t have to sacrifice your favorite hotel perks: each of our homes includes hotel-grade towels and linens, a starter set of toiletries, is professionally cleaned prior to your arrival, free WiFi, and 24/7 support from our local Tybee Island team.

Here are some things you can look forward to during your stay in a Tybee Island vacation rental:

  • Tybee Island Light Station and MuseumThe Tybee Island Light Station is Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse. Built in 1736 and standing at an impressive 145 feet, the light station offers a unique opportunity to view a magnificent sunset from the top during their ninety minute private tours. Also located on the grounds are three Light Keeper’s Cottages, an 1812 Summer Kitchen, and the 1899 Military Battery, which houses the Tybee Island Museum. The Tybee Museum was established in 1961 and showcases the rich history of Tybee Island. It is actually located inside of the Battery Garland of Fort Screven, which was originally used to mount a huge twelve-inch “non-disappearing” rifled long range cannon on top. The Tybee Island Light Station complex is open every day except Tuesday and all major holidays, weather permitting.
  • Fort Pulaski National MonumentIn addition to surrounding yourself in the history of Fort Pulaski and the Cockspur Island Lighthouse, an abundance of outdoor activities are available to satisfy your desire for physical activity, such as hiking, biking, fishing, and bird watching. The North Pier Trail’s ¼ mile allows visitors to guide themselves through a scenic wooded area, as well as the remnants of Fort Pulaski’s original construction village. Relish in views of the Savannah River, Tybee Island, and the historic Cockspur Island Lighthouse while traveling along open marsh on the Lighthouse Overlook Trail. McQueens Islands Rails to Trails is a six-mile gravel trail that follows the path of the old Tybee rail line and is open to bikers, runners, and walkers. If the weather doesn’t cooperate or inside adventures are more of your speed, check out the Visitor Center and Museum which highlights Generals David Hunter and Robert E. Lee.
  • Tybee Island Marine Science CenterTybee Island Marine Science Center provides year-round programs for visitors of all ages. During the summer, they offer a SeaCamp for children six to eleven years old and design it to fit the needs of your schedule. Walks, Talks, & Treks are one-hour long programs which are hands-on and promote education of Georgia’s tides, dunes, and area wildlife. Choose from the Beach Walk, Jelly Jive, Marsh Talk, Shark Jaw, Turtle Talk, and Whale Tale. Then you can choose between seining or sand sifting, two of the thirty minute beach activities. Finally, tour the Coastal Gallery, or choose one of their Floating Classrooms, which include the Touch Tank, EcoAdventure, Dolphin Discovery, or the Savannah River Expedition.

Tybee Island Vacation Rentals Frequently Asked Questions

Companies like Airbnb and Vrbo operate listing websites that enable guests to research and book a vacation rental anywhere in the world. However, once a guest books the property, they need to work directly with either the homeowner, host or property manager any time they have questions or need assistance with booking or during their stay. This can be a challenge for some homeowners, particularly those who live far away from their vacation rental. TurnKey offers a consistent and reliable high-end experience, resulting in strong reviews, repeat bookings and more. TurnKey also has a local Tybee Island team, 24/7 support and in-home technology to ensure an amazing vacation experience in every home, every stay, every time.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, TurnKey has enhanced its already extensive home cleaning standards and processes to further sanitize homes between each stay for our guests and owners. All TurnKey properties are equipped with our patented GuestWorks® cleaning system and verification technology, requiring professional housekeepers to follow a stringent set of cleaning standards, customized for each home, and confirm their use of COVID-19 fighting products, as identified by the Center for Biocide Chemistries. We have also emphasized effective hygiene practices and safety recommendations for our employees and housekeeping network in line with CDC guidelines. In addition, we have initiated the TurnKey Cares Relief Housing Program, offering thousands of homes for medical personnel and first-responders at complimentary or significantly discounted rates while they perform critical services to fight COVID-19.
