"Third time renting the home in two years. I want to rent it again and again and again. The owner went out of her way to coordinate with the new management company when there was a change in direction. This change resulted in new appliances, fluffy new towels and linens, new paint and probably lots more. The place is soon cozy, and the view is sweet. Just can't say enough good things about 104. S. Marion."..."

How to pick the perfect vacation rental on the Oregon Coast

Running alongside the Pacific Ocean, the Oregon Coast stretches approximately 362 miles and is regarded as three distinct sub–regions; the North Oregon Coast, the Central Oregon Coast, and the South Oregon Coast. Each region has something to offer to visitors. Visit Seaside and Cannon Beach on the North Oregon Coast for the best beaches; check out Newport’s iconic lighthouses and sports fishing on the Central Oregon Coast; and on the South Oregon Coast, stay in Florence to see the Oregon Dunes or fish in Coos Bay. Because of its sunnier weather and versatile offerings of activities, it’s no surprise that the Oregon Coast is the state’s top tourist destination.

Follow these tips to help you pick the perfect Oregon Coast vacation rental for your travel plans.

  1. Where to stay to enjoy the beach. The Oregon Coast boasts over 50 beaches to choose from and thanks to the Oregon Beach Bill of 1967, all beaches allow free access to everyone. For the most traditional beach getaway, look to the North Oregon Coast, which is home to some of Oregon’s longest stretches of sand and most iconic beaches, including Seaside and Cannon Beach.
  2. Where to stay to see the Oregon Dunes. To see the largest stretch of coastal sand dunes in North America, check out Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area in the Siuslaw National Forest, located on the South Oregon Coast. To stay near the dunes, find a rental in either Florence, Glenada, or Dunes City. Florence is home to the Sand Master Park and Sandland Adventures Inc.
  3. Where to stay to visit Oregon’s historic lighthouses.Of the 12 original Oregon lighthouses built before 1900, nine can still be visited today. The lighthouses line the entire Oregon Coast. Check out the Cape Arago Lighthouse, the Umpqua River Lighthouse, and the Cape Blanco Lighthouse on the South Oregon Coast, or the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and Yaquina Head Lighthouse in Newport on the Central Oregon Coast.
  4. Where to stay to go sport fishing.Sport fishing is one of the primary outdoor recreational activities along the Oregon Coast, and is a major industry in several of the Oregon Coastal cities, including Astoria on the North Oregon Coast , Newport and Lincoln City on the Central Oregon Coast, and Coos Bay on the South Oregon Coast.
  5. How to choose your own Oregon Coast rental experience. Each sub-region of the Oregon Coast has something special to offer. Stay on the North Oregon Coast for the sandiest beaches, on the Central Oregon Coast to see more sea cliffs, terraces, and urban areas like Newport and Lincoln City, or on the South Oregon Coast for a more mountainous vacation along the Oregon Dunes.
